Hotel owned by former NCP Governor’s wife demolished

The hotel on Perimiyankulama tank reservation belonging to former North Central Province Governor Maheepala Herath was demolished on the order of the Divisional Secretary in keeping with the ongoing demarcation of tank reservations in the Anuradhapura District Nuwaragam Palatha Divisional Secretary Sudarshana Disanayake confirmed it yesterday.   

He said he had on September 18 informed former Governor’s wife Ajantha Herath to demolish the hotel which was an unauthorised building on the tank reservation.   

The Department of Irrigation with the help of the Department of Survey has implemented the government policy to demarcate the tank reservations in the Anuradhapura District and to remove the unauthorised buildings.   

 Divisional Secretary further said the surveying work of the Perimiyankulama tank reservation was complete.
