First scholarships awarded under the Galboda Sri Gnanissara Memorial Scholarship Trust Fund

The Galboda Sri Gnanissara Memorial Scholarship Trust Fund (Nena Isura) awarded its first set of scholarships to 12 deserving students, furthering its mission to support education in Sri Lanka, recently.  

The awards ceremony took place alongside the Colombo Gangaramaya Navam Perahera 2025, underscoring the trust fund’s commitment to empowering the next generation.   

The scholarships were presented by the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education Harini Amarasuriya, Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, Wasantha Samarasinghe, and Ranjith Wijewardene from the Trust as a trustee, highlighting the government’s dedication to fostering educational opportunities and skill development in the country.   The most notable recipient, Naveed Rasheen, was granted a fully funded scholarship to study at SLIIT, setting a precedent for academic excellence and inclusivity.
