Fined Rs. 500,000 for selling overpriced bottled water

A trader who had sold a bottle of drinking water for more than the maximum retail price was found guilty and fined Rs.500,000 by Nuwara Eliya magistrate.   
A team of Investigation officer under Senior Investigation Officer of Nuwara Eliya Unit of the Consumer Affairs Authority Amila Ratnayake had carried out the raid on the instructions of Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Thushari Thennakoon and Asst. Director Central Province CAA, K.A.Prodeep Kaluarachchi.
