Fine paid with forged note, woman arrested

A woman who attempted to pay a fine with counterfeit currency notes at the Hambantota Magistrate’s Court was arrested by Hambantota police last morning. She had tendered a counterfeit currency note of Rs. 5000 denomination with several other currency notes to pay the fine of Rs. 8000.   

The 28 year woman was a resident of Beragama in Ambalanthota   

The cashier who detected the counterfeit currency had informed it to the police officers on duty in court. She was handed over to Hambantota Police for further action.
