As thundershowers which occurred in Colombo and suburbs last evening concerned many, the Department of Meteorology yesterday assured that Sri Lanka is in for fair weather during the coming days.
Director General Department of Meteorology told Daily Mirror that thundershowers which are experienced frequently is nothing to get alarmed about. “
These thundershowers will last about one and a half hours maximum and they are not likely to cause major damage,” he said.
He assured that the rains will subside during the coming days.
It was forecasted that few showers or thunder showers are expected in Uva, Eastern and Central provinces and in Colombo, Kalutara, Galle and Matara Districts.
Maximum rainfall of 81mm was recorded from Panama yesterday while 50 to 60 mm of rains were reported from some parts in the East, 30mm of rain were reported from Jaffna and Colombo as per the data put out by the Department of Meteorology.
