Drug traffickers should be hanged - Commissioner of Prisons

Commissioner of Prisons and Media Spokesman Jagath Weerasinghe stressed that  drug traffickers sentenced to death should be hanged.   

During the 435th lecture in a programme implemented by him to create public awareness in Nawalapitiya he said that the prisons in the country have accommodation for only 10500 detainees but the number of detainees already in prisons had increased to more than 36000.  The awareness programme for 500 schoolchildren was organised by the Nawalapitiya police and Kotmale Lions’ Club.
