Daily Mirror shines at Presidential Environment Awards 2025

• The annual event, organized by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA), celebrates individuals and institutions that demonstrate excellence in environmental conservation and sustainable practices

The Wijeya Newspapers Ltd. (WNL) family made a remarkable mark at the Presidential Environment Awards 2025, winning multiple honours across its publications for excellence in environmental journalism and communication.   

Daily Mirror Deputy Web Editor Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama received a Merit Award in the Media Sector – Individual Category (English Medium), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to environmental awareness and communication.   

Meanwhile, Daily Mirror’s Kamanthi Wickramasinghe was honoured with a Silver Award in the same category. The award was accepted on her behalf by Daily Mirror Associate Editor Features Susitha Raju Fernando during the ceremony.  

Adding to the success of the WNL group, Ada Newspaper won the Gold Award in the Media Sector, with its Features Editor Dinithi Abeyawardane receiving the honour.   

The Chief Editor of Wijeya Children’s Newspaper, Duminda Sanjeewa Balasooriya, received a Silver Award in the Media Sector – Institution Category (Sinhala Medium), while Sheron Suwarnasiri from the same publication was recognized with a Bronze Award for her contribution to environmental journalism.
