D.S. Senanayake Commemorated

The first Prime Minister of Independent Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, who gained the reputation as the “Father of Independence” for gaining freedom to the country without shedding a single drop of blood was commemorated last morning at the Meerigama Pradeshiya Sabha grounds to mark 77 years of the country’s independence.   

Gampaha District Parliamentarian Chaminda Lalith Kumara was the chief guest of the ceremony.   

The Chief Incumbent of Meerigama Shasanawardene Pirivena and Temple Ven. Welimada Achaladhamma Thera administered religious observances and delivered an Anusasana.   

Parliamentarian Chaminda Lalith Kumara, Secretary of the Pradeshiya Sabha Chaturani Jayakody and other officials paid flower tributes to the D.S.Senanayake statue at the Pradeshiya Sabha ground.
