Cooperate with India to achieve trillion dollar growth target for Asia: Ranil

Sri Lanka should cooperate with India to achieve a trillion dollar economic growth for Asia by 2055, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday.   
Speaking to media, former President Wickremesinghe said Sri Lanka should ensure that its economy grows by ten fold within the next three decades. He stressed the need for linking up Sri Lanka ‘s economy with India and cooperate with that country.   
“Focus was made to cooperate with India during my tenure to cooperate with South India. However, it is sad to note that the Adani group decided to go away from Sri Lanka. One wonders about the rationale behind the decision of the present government to initiate a dialogue with the Adani group” he said.   
Also, he stressed the need to continue the debt restructuring process and the engagement with the IMF in order to avoid economic disaster.
