Civil security constable nabbed over death of jumbo

A retired Civil Security Constable and a retired soldier were arrested by the wildlife officers from Medawachchiya in connection with the death of a wild elephant which had been electrocuted. The former was the owner of the paddy field and the latter the individuals who laid the trap. Officials said the two suspects had laid a live wire around a paddy field and that the wild elephant roaming about had trampled it and died of electrocution.They said the jumbo was about ten years of age.  

They were produced in court, and the owner of the paddy field was released on personal bail of Rs. 300,000, and the others remanded till November 28.
