Businessmen who sold ‘Madana Modaka’ to schoolboys, arrested

Two businessmen who sold the Aphrodisiac called “Madana Modaka” to the student involved in the incident arrested

Police conducting investigations of the recent assault on a teacher at a leading school in Monaragala area yesterday arrested two businessmen who sold the Aphrodisiac called “Madana Modaka” to the student involved in the incident. During the raid the police seized 8086 capsules of the illegal intoxicant.   

The suspect student had assaulted the teacher who questioned him about using a smart phone and a charger in school.   

The two businessmen taken into custody were in their fifties and leading businessmen of the area.   

Police said “Madana Modaka was an allied product of cannabis and an illegal intoxicant. Investigations revealed that the two suspects had been carrying on the contraband trade of selling intoxicants to school children and young men and women since long. 

Police said they carried out the raid on information received during investigations of the assault on the schoolteacher. They said the schoolboy involved in the incident had been addicted to the aphrodisiac.   

The suspect businessmen were to be produced before the Monaragala Magistrate yesterday.   

 A police team under OIC Monaragala police is conducting further investigations.
