No one should make ayurvedic medicines created for combating COVID-19 a business, MP Athureliya Rathana Thera told Parliament yesterday.

“There are reports that there is a Corriander capsule which enhances immunity. However this should be handed over to the relevant institutions for testing.  No one should make this a business. Some have insulted traditional ayurvedic medicine by promoting certain medicines without approval, “ the Thera said.

“What we need is an amalgamation of ayurvedic medicine and Western medicine. The technology involved in Western medicine should also be made use of ,” he added.    Also he said the decision made by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to ban importation of chemical fertiliser and pesticides is commendable. “Everyone should work towards making this decision a reality,” he said.
