Arms, ammunition found in residence of former Police sergeant

A cache of arms and ammunition was recovered yesterday during a search operation in the official quarters ground of a former Sergeant of Galenbindunuwewa Police.
Police had dug up 281 T56 live cartridges, five T56 magazines, an SMG magazine, 16 live cartridges for pistols and five live hand grenades. The police sergeant occupying the official quarters has been under interdiction since February 2022 in connection with another incident.
He was summoned to Galenbindunuwewa Police and his statement was recorded yesterday.
Galenbindunuwewa Police are conducting further investigations.
