Another state institution chairman steps down , the second instance in a month

Last month, Dr. Senesh Bandara resigned as Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).   

A Ministry spokesperson confirmed that Siriwardena has submitted his resignation letter to the Minister a few days ago, citing personal reasons for his decision.   

This was Siriwardena’s fourth term as SLTB Chairman, having been reappointed in October 2024 by then Minister of Transport Vijitha Herath.   

Siriwardena previously served as Chairman under Presidents Chandrika Bandaranaike (1994-2001), Mahinda Rajapaksa (2006-2007) and Maithripala Sirisena (2015-2019).
