Rodney gets honorary award from India

Veteran journalist,  writer and filmmaker Rodney Widanapathirana was recently given an honorary award at the Chinnaswamy Hindustan Gagan festival held by the Open University of the Karnataka State.

The award was given after considering contribution to Sri Lanka’s media reportage via newspapers, and television, plus his cinematic creations and travel books.

Other recipients were Pradeep Khanal of Nepal and Shereen Vanshuk of Bhutan.

The awards ceremony was held at the Mysore Open University, and featured the traditional dances and music of Mysore. University chancellors, vice chancellors and professors were among the guests of honour.
