English Nursing Care Services, aiming to set the benchmark for home nursing care in Sri Lanka, celebrated their launch in Colombo recently.

Situated in Colombo 10, English Nursing Care Services is a registered nurse-supervised home nursing service, allowing for quality care in your own home.

English Nursing Care ServicesManaging DirectorRichard Gould said: “English Nursing Care Services will set a new standard in high-quality, compassionate nursing care in Sri Lanka. We want to offer our patients a professionally managed, reliable nursing service in their own home. Our nurse supervised service will provide eldercare, as well as other specialist nursing services for those suffering from long term conditions.”

“Advances in medicine mean that people are living longer, but require nursing care to maintain their quality of life. Educational opportunities and careers around the world mean that families are not able to care for elders as easily as in the past. Further, hospitals are under pressure to maximize the efficiency of their services. All these factors create a need for high quality, reliable, compassionate home nursing.” added Gould. The company is a subsidiary company from the United Kingdom that will bring expertise from the UK to develop the community nursing and care sector in Sri Lanka.

The new Home Nursing venture is adapted specially for Sri Lanka. It incorporates UK best practice social care and community nursing techniques around person-centred care, safe moving and handling procedures, medication compliance and record keeping, allied to excellent Sri Lankan nursing practice on the ground. The UK management team has 50 years of experience in community nursing care, building on the core staff of experienced Sri Lankan nurses. The service also offers Consultant Physician oversight to nurse patients in their own homes.

The Sri Lankan team will work closely with their UK nursing support team, which will frequently visit Sri Lanka to provide them with management oversight, nursing supervision and training skills. There will also be weekly case management conferences with the UK based team to promote the best in patient care.

“We recognize that the quality of our staff is key to the quality of care we deliver. We have recruited and trained a core of staff to deliver compassionate person-centred care that we hope will delight our clients. We are also looking to increase the size of our team and hire young Sri Lankans from Nurse Training Colleges, who are passionate about providing quality patient care. We hope to provide our staff with an excellent career in community care in Sri Lanka.”

Gould further added that English Nursing Care Services hopes to change the perception of home nursing facilities in Sri Lanka. Currently, home nursing services are perceived to be unreliable, of low quality, and lacking the appropriate medical or nursing supervision. With the launch of English Nursing Care Services, the Sri Lankan home nursing industry is set to experience a new level of service and reliable, value for money community nursing care.
