Lanka IOC starts dispatching fuel bowsers

  • Three shiploads of petrol and diesel are scheduled to reach the country
  • The first vessel is scheduled to reach the country between July 13 and 15, while another shipment is scheduled to be received between July 29 and 31
  • Each vessel will carry 30,000 metric tonnes of fuel

Lanka IOC commenced dispatching fuel bowsers from its LIOC Trincomalee Oil Terminal from midnight Saturday (2) with the use of bowsers attached to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC). 

Lanka IOC said that three ships containing petrol and diesel are scheduled to reach the country. Accordingly, one vessel is scheduled to reach the country between July 13 and 15, while another shipment is scheduled to be received between July 29 and 31. The third vessel is scheduled to sail in between August 10 and 15, Lanka IOC said.


Lanka IOC said each vessel will carry 30,000 metric tonnes of fuel.


Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Private Bowser Owners Association (CPPBOA) yesterday claimed that the CPC had announced that distribution of fuel had been suspended.


The Association said about 100 bowsers had been assigned for fuel distribution of  Lanka IOC.
