The Chairman Nandana Tilaka said the Hambantota Lanka Salt Company would receive a share of 10000 metric tons out of the consignment of 30000 metric tons of salt imported from India.
He said 140 metric tons of it has already been received. However he said the price of salt issued to the market will cover only the customs duty and the cost of transport and that the company will not receive any profit.
He was hopeful that the price could be reduced during the harvesting season in Hambantota, Bundala and Palatupana salterns in February and March depending on the weather conditions.
