‘My father had no hand in Thajudeen’s death’ - Kajja’s son

A 16-year-old boy who called himself as recently murdered underworld figure Aruna Vidanagamage, alias ‘Kajja’s son claimed that his father had no hand in the murder of Wasim Thajudeen. 

He told reporters in Colombo that he did not think that the government wanted to link his father to this murder but his mother is behind the move to link his father to the particular murder.   

He said he wants to mete out justice to his murdered father and requested the police to arres this mother and her paramour Sampath Ramanayake.    The boy said he was just three years when the murder took place in 2012 and that his father was a conductor in a Horana-Colombo bus at that time. “I was questioned about the murder by the CID. They showed me a video and asked me if the person in the video was my father. I could not recognise my father those days.”  

“”When that video was shown to me I and my mother were at the CID. My Mother was questioned separately. I was questioned separately. My mother told the CID in my presence that it was not Anura. Then, my mother was taken to a separate room. I do not know what she had told the CID,” he said. 

He further said that according to his father’s friend he never drank even a beer or smoked. “The person in the video was drinking a beer. I want to say my father had not committed that crime. I tell with evidence. I talk on behalf of my father. My father had committed some other crimes like demanding money from gambling dens.   

He said at the time of his father’s death  his mother was in Dubai with her paramour Sampath Ramanayake who was his fathers driver. The boy said his father was looking for his mother after being released from prison and that his mother wanted to kill his father and him because he knew about his mother’s illicit affair with Sampath Ramanayake.    I am talking on behalf of my father not for any politician of any political party and said that he was ready to come to any place to give evidence on behalf of his father.
