Karandeniya PHI shot dead

• Police said a 9mm pistol had been used in the shooting

Administrative PHI (Public Health Inspector) of  Karandeniya MOH office had been shot dead yesterday morning at his  house in Divithuragama in Kurundugahahetekma in Elpitiya.   

The deceased Deepal Roshan Withanachchi (51) was father of three children and the Treasurer of the PHIs’ Union.   Investigations revealed that two gunmen wearing face masks  had got the door opened under the pretext of meeting the PHI for an  official matter and shot him, and sped away.   

 Police said a 9mm pistol had been used in the shooting.   
Elpitiya Police are conducting further investigations.
