Blue Sapphire in the shape of Sri Lanka discovered

• The gem merchant who found the Blue Sapphire said he is hopeful of getting the opportunity to have it displayed at local and international exhibitions

A gem merchant in Nivithigala has found a Blue Sapphire in the shape of Sri Lanka. The gem merchant Rohan Wasantha Dissanayake of Nivithigala said he bought it from a gem miner in Karavita area. 

 The gem stone is in the shape of Sri Lanka and the land including the Jaffna Peninsula, Mannar and Trincomalee are clearly visible.  

 I don’t expect to cut or polish it and I will leave it as it is until I could sell it for my price. I am hopeful that I will have the opportunity to have it displayed at local and international exhibitions,” he further said.
