Bill of a wedding reception paid with Municipal Funds

• A senior official of the Municipal council had misused funds received to the Shroff’s’ Branch as taxes to settle the bills of a wedding reception in her family

Kandy Municipal Commissioner has initiated investigations of misappropriation of funds amounting Rs.5.1 million to settle the bills of a wedding reception.  

It is alleged that a senior official of the Municipal council had misused funds received to the Shroff’s’ Branch as taxes to settle the bills of a wedding reception in her family.  
Municipal Commissioner Ishan Wijetilleka has initiated investigations when accounts in the Municipal Council last week indicated a shortage of Rs.5.1million. He has reported the incident to the Central Province Chief Secretary
