A Bangladeshi youth who tried to leave for Italy with a forged Schengen visa stamped on his passport was nabbed by the Immigration and Emigration Department officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

BIA immigration officials at the counters who felt suspicious about the Bangladeshi youth’s Schengen visa had referred the forged document to the department’s Border Surveillance Unit (BSU) for examination, the sources said.

The officials at the BSU who found that the visa was a forged one had detained the foreigner and questioned him.
A senior Immigration official told the Daily Mirror the foreigner had arrived in Sri Lanka a few days ago and had planned to travel to Malpensa Airport in Italy through a transit at Charles De Gaulle Airport in France.     The sleuths suspect whether the 22-year-old Bangladeshi national had got his forged Schengen visa sticker made from a broker in Sri Lanka for a large fee.
