Mar.28 (Mirror Sports)  - Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Chaminda Vaas has criticised Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for what he described as inconsistent fitness policies, following reports that Nuwan Thushara was denied a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to join Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the Indian Premier League 2026.

The development has sparked debate, with Vaas suggesting the decision reflects poor planning rather than discipline.

“SLC ignored fitness standards over the past four years,” Vaas wrote on X.

“Fitness in modern cricket is crucial. But you can’t ignore it for years and then suddenly enforce strict standards just before the IPL. A player missing out now feels more like poor planning than discipline.”

He added that denying opportunities at the last minute places players in a difficult position, arguing that the timing of the enforcement is unfair.

The former fast bowler’s comments highlight growing concerns over player management and consistency in selection policies, particularly as franchise leagues continue to play a significant role in players’ careers.
