July national tea sales average records monthly gain in LKR, dip in USD terms

The national tea sales average for the month of July 2023 recorded Rs.1,011.44 (US $ 3.18), showing a slight gain of Rs.37.08 from the previous month. However, in US dollar terms, it is a decrease of US $ 0.06.
In comparison to the July 2022 average of Rs.1,448.13 (US $ 4.05), a year-on-year (YoY) decrease of Rs.436.69 and US $ 0.87 was recorded. 
The elevation-wise analysis for July 2023 shows that the High Grown average for the month recorded a gain of Rs.18.79 and a decrease of US $ 0.09 month-on-month (MoM), whilst a decrease of Rs.337.21 and US $ 0.64 was seen when compared with the corresponding month of the previous year.

 

 

The Medium Grown average for the month recorded an increase of Rs.35.26 and a decrease of US $ 0.05 MoM. In comparison to July 2022, it is a decrease of Rs.260.91 and US $ 0.43.
Meanwhile, the Low Grown average for the month recorded an increase of Rs.40.18 and a decrease of US $ 0.07 MoM. This is a decrease of Rs.500.54 and US $ 1.02 YoY.
Overall, all elevations record an increase during the period January-July 2023 in comparison to the corresponding period of 2022, in Sri Lankan rupee terms. However, in US dollar terms, the High and Medium Growns recorded a gain, whilst the Low Growns recorded a decline
