Exporters’ Association of Sri Lanka holds 26th AGM

The Exporters’ Association of Sri Lanka (EASL), which is an approved association of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, held its 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce auditorium recently, with Export Development Board Chairman Dr. Kingsley Bernard in attendance as the chief guest.


The AGM saw the election of a new Executive Committee for the year 2023-2024, with Lion Brewery PLC Director Finance Ranil Goonetilleke as Chairman and Hatton National Bank Head of Trade and Financial Institutions Rozanne De Almeida and Nidro Supply (Pvt.) Ltd Consultant Yohan Lawrence as First and Second Vice Chairpersons, respectively.


Goonetilleke stressed the pressing need for innovative marketing approaches, a steadfast focus on product quality and a relentless pursuit of global competitiveness, in order to survive and thrive amidst the challenges of trade barriers, escalating costs, geopolitical uncertainties, etc.


Underlining the pivotal role played by the EASL in collectively addressing impediments, Goonetilleke highlighted the importance of seeking new opportunities and advocating for a more exporter-friendly environment. He also encouraged active participation from the membership to work collectively towards the growth of the country’s export potential.
