Employees protest against sale of SLT

The employee trade union at Sri Lanka Telecom PLC (SLT) yesterday staged a protest against the proposed restructuring of the company. The government has announced plans to divest the 49.5 percent in SLT held by the Treasury, as part of a wider state-owned enterprise restructuring exercise under the recently clinched International Monetary Fund programme.
