Police OIC becomes hit and run driver

Colombo, July 27 (Daily Mirror) - A hit and run driver, allegedly a senior police official, who knocked down two young women at two locations and fled in his car was arrested by Meegoda Police yesterday.

Police said the suspect was a Chief Inspector (CI) and OIC of a Special Investigation Unit in the Homagama SSP Division.

He had caused the two accidents at 11.30 pm and 11.57 pm on Saturday (25), one at Wataraka and the other near the Meegoda filling station.

Investigations revealed that he was under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident. He was to be produced before the Homagama magistrate yesterday.
