Embracing Avurudu amidst hopeful recovery

After enduring a series of crises, including the pandemic, Sri Lanka is eagerly anticipating the Avurudu festival this week. The festival, also known as Sinhala and Tamil New Year, marks a time of renewal and joy, symbolising new beginnings.
In the spirit of celebration, tourists are seen here indulging in traditional Sri Lankan sweet meats at a roadside kiosk. The vibrant colours and enticing aromas of these delicacies are a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the island.
