Daraz Sri Lanka says no job cuts

Daraz workforce in Sri Lanka will not be affected by the job cuts announced by the e-commerce platform Daraz Group, an Alibaba Group subsidiary.
Daraz Group CEO Bjarke Mikkelsen on February 6 announced that Daraz Group was reducing its workforce by 11 percent to prepare for the “current market reality.”

Mikkelsen cited a difficult market environment, with a war in Europe, huge supply chain disruptions, soaring inflation, increasing taxes, and removal of essential government subsidies in its markets. 

“Daraz Sri Lanka, however, will not be implementing any redundancies at the moment. The local operations have been maintained in a lean and efficient manner over the years,” a Daraz Sri Lanka spokesperson said.
