YKK Lanka builds sustainable future with community participation

YKK Lanka adopts eco-friendly manufacturing practices, reduces energy consumption, and uses recycled and responsibly sourced materials. A key initiative involves partnering with neighboring factories to collect PET bottles, which are then sent to ECO Spindles, a local recycling company that transforms them into yarn for NATULON® Ocean Sourced™ zippers. This effort helps combat ocean plastic pollution and promotes circularity within the textile industry. YKK Lanka is also deeply engaged in community development. 

The company’s CSR initiatives include annual tree planting drives, waste management campaigns, and support for healthcare projects such as renovation work at Avissawella Base Hospital and the donation of a liquid nitrogen canister to enhance patient care. 

Most recently from 27-29 August 2025, YKK Lanka, together with YKK Holding Asia Pte Ltd, co-organized the YKK ASAO Kids Football Clinic to promote teamwork, discipline, and healthy living among underprivileged children. “Our journey has always been about growing together with our communities,” said Kei Tanaka, Managing Director of YKK Lanka.
