PanAsian Power PLC announced the connection of its 5MW ground-mounted solar project in Kurunegala to the national grid on 14 July 2025, which according to the company marks a key step in the company’s renewable energy expansion.
The project, operated through a PAP subsidiary, is the third 5MW solar power plant connected to the grid by the company and is expected to begin commercial operations shortly.
“This testing and commissioning represent a significant milestone in our renewable energy development strategy, adding another 5MWac/ 6.24MWp to the national grid and supporting Sri Lanka’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy capacity and meeting national renewable energy targets,” the company said in a disclosure to the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE).
The Kurunegala plant uses advanced technology including Longi Bi-facial N-type 615W solar photovoltaic modules and Sungrow string inverters, alongside tracker technology that allows the modules to follow the sun’s path to maximise energy generation.
