PIM recently celebrated the success of the fintech implementation project by the MBA 2023 students.
As part of their course work for the managerial finance module of their MBA second semester, they introduced QR-based payments to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) vendors in Sri Lanka.

Over 30 groups of students empowered over 40 SME vendors in Sri Lanka across different categories and strata were helped by this project and some vendors were present as well. PIM Director Dr. Kelum Gamage noted that in an era marked by innovation and digital transformation, it is important that Sri Lankan MSE vendors remain at the forefront of change. Introducing QR-based payments is not just an achievement; it is a testament to our commitment to fostering financial inclusion and supporting our local businesses. The forum was also addressed by MBA coordinator Dr. Asanga Ranasinghe and LankaPay Deputy CEO Dinuka Perera on the importance of this milestone. The module key resource person Tharindu Ameresekere, the senior lecturer of PIM, expressed gratitude to the students for their efforts while emphasising on PIM’s commitment to uplifting the business community.
