Lanka Bio Fertilizers-Market Development Facility extend partnership

Lanka Bio Fertilizers (Pvt.) Ltd (LBF), one of Sri Lanka’s leading manufacturers and distributors of next-generation fertilisers, recently formalised the extension of its strategic partnership with the Market Development Facility (MDF), at an agreement signing ceremony attended by the senior representatives of both organisations. Operating under well-known brands such as MCI, TopCrop, BSP and Biofilm, LBF specialises in hybrid pellet fertilisers, NPK compound fertilisers, biofertilisers and crop-specific nutrition solutions. The company continues to focus on improving nutrient efficiency, soil health and farmer profitability through innovation. 

Over the past two years, the LBF–MDF collaboration has introduced innovative fertiliser solutions to farmers across Sri Lanka. Through joint market development initiatives and technical support, new product lines were successfully launched, encouraging a shift from conventional straight fertilisers towards balanced and efficient nutrient management practices.

MDF, an Australian government-funded economic development programme, works with the private sector, regulatory bodies and state institutions to promote inclusive growth in Sri Lanka. In agriculture, MDF supports agribusinesses to strengthen supply chains, improve farmer outreach and promote sustainable, climate-resilient practices—particularly in the post-2022 recovery phase.

The renewed partnership aims to further expand access to improved fertiliser technologies, strengthen last-mile distribution and enhance farmer awareness. 

By combining LBF’s manufacturing and field presence with MDF’s market systems expertise, the collaboration is expected to accelerate sustainable fertiliser adoption, improve farmer incomes and contribute to national food security.
