Indices bounce back

Indices closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as John Keells Holdings, Hatton National Bank and Melstacorp with the turnover crossing Rs. 4.1
Bn. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in Hatton Plantations, Commercial Bank and Hatton National Bank nonvoting. Mixed interest was observed in Citrus Leisure, Janashakthi Limited and Lanka IOC whilst retail interest was noted in Waskaduwa Beach Resort, SMB Leasing and Softlogic Finance. Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net buyers. Food, Beverage & Tobacco sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Hatton Plantations) whilst the sector index gained 0.99%. The share price of Hatton Plantations closed flat at Rs 26.90. Diversified Financials sector was the second highest
contributor to the market turnover (due to Janashakthi Limited) whilst the sector index increased by 1.32%. The share price of Janashakthi Limited gained Rs 0.80 (5.88%)
to close at Rs 14.40. Citrus Leisure Plc, Lanka IOC and Commercial Bank were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Citrus Leisure Plc increased by Rs 0.70 (15.56%) to close at Rs 5.20. The share price of Lanka IOC recorded a loss of Rs 0.75 (0.54%) to close at Rs 138.50. The share price of Commercial Bank closed flat at Rs 209.75.
