Sri Lanka’s Digital Economy Transformation Acceleration Programme is set to kick off next week, which is the first collaborative effort between the government and private sector to execute a digital economy plan in the country.
The programme will roll out from October 11 and will be implemented by the Technology Ministry.According to Technology State Minister Kanaka Herath, the digital economic plan would equip Sri Lanka to navigate the international competitive economic landscape, potentially paving the way for a robust economy in the coming decade.

He also mentioned that workshops and conferences are in the pipeline to familiarise the public with this digital economy plan.
Herath shared his comments while addressing the DIGIECON 2030 awareness programme held at the Presidential Media Centre this week.
Meanwhile, he noted that the DIGIECON 2030 event is anticipated to be a transformative step in transitioning Sri Lanka into a digital economy and formulating a comprehensive digital economic strategy for the country.
The current contribution of the digital economy to the country’s GDP stands at 4 percent and plans are afoot to increase it to 15 percent by 2030.
