The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will hold two seminars to create awareness on ‘Establishing Electronic Phytosanitary (ePhyto) Certification System in Sri Lanka,’ in collaboration with the National Plant Quarantine Services (NPQS) of Department of Agriculture.
The seminars to be held tomorrow (16th December) at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, a morning session and an afternoon session will be addressed by Dr. Chin Karunaratne, a senior project scientist on ePhyto, working for the Department of Agriculture, Canberra, Australia. Senior officials of the National Plant Quarantine Services, Department of Agriculture of Sri Lanka will also join in as resource persons.
The latest seminar comes amidst Sri Lanka’s being selected by the International Plant Protection Convention( IPPC) for a piloting project, which will help regulate and facilitate international trade.
