Colombo Dockyard PLC has reconstituted its board following a shift in majority ownership, with India’s Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) formalising leadership changes after acquiring a 51 percent stake in the Sri Lankan shipbuilder.
The company said the appointments, effective April 7, are part of a broader governance realignment under MDL, which has moved to strengthen board oversight and strategic direction.
As part of the changes, MDL Chairman and Managing Director Capt. Jagmohan (Retd.) has been appointed as Non-Executive Chairman of Colombo Dockyard. With more than 25 years of experience spanning naval design, shipbuilding and defence projects, including senior roles in the Indian Navy and leadership positions at Indian state-owned shipyards, his appointment is expected to deepen technical and operational integration with the parent company.
MDL has also nominated Thimira S. Godakumbura, who continues as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Colombo Dockyard, along with Vish Govindasamy as a Non-Executive Nominee Director.
Govindasamy brings extensive board-level experience across listed Sri Lankan firms and currently serves on the Monetary Policy Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. In addition, Senthilverl Senthi Nandhanan has been appointed as a Nominee Director representing Senthilverl Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd. He has over two decades of experience across financial services, energy and FMCG sectors and currently serves on the boards of Amana Bank PLC and Sarvodaya Development Finance PLC.
