Western imperialists lost their values: Wimal

The Western imperialists have discarded the values they possessed by killing former Libyan Leader Muammar  Gaddafi, Jathika Nidahas Peramuna (JNP) Leader Wimal Weerawansa said today.

He vehemently condemned the killing of Colonel Gaddafi and said their decency was evident by the way they dealt with Sri Wickrama Rajasainghe the last king of Sri Lanka.

Mr. Weerawansa said the king was deported from the country when he was arrested by the British just before they took control of the island but this kind of decency had vanished today in what was seen when Gaddafi was killed mercilessly by the Libyan rebels backed by these nations.

He said it was clear that these countries wanted to get a hold of Libyan oil resources.

“It was Saddham Hussein earlier, it is Muammar Gaddafi today and it will be the Iranian President tomorrow when one considers the way these nations are fulfilling their objectives,” he said.

Mr. Weerawansa said Gaddafi’s style of governance was based on the social structure of that society though many critisised it. This he said was similar to the reign of King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe who was perceived to be a cruel king. (Yohan Perera)
