Warships to SL: Indian officials impleaded as respondents

The Madras High Court today directed to implead the Defence Secretary, External Affairs Secretary and the Indian Coast Guard Deputy Director General as respondents on a petition seeking to cancel the proposed sale of two warships to Sri Lanka.

Justice V. Sudhakar and Justice S Vaidhyanathan of Madurai Bench also posted the case for hearing to January 7 next year.

Later in September this year, a petition seeking a direction to the Centre to cancel the proposed sale of two Naval warships to Sri Lanka was filed in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. (PTI)
