The United National Party (UNP) is also behind moves to bring back former President Mahinda Rajapaksa into active politics again, Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne said today.

He said it was in the nature of the UNP to seize opportunities whenever possible.

“The UNP did the same in 1980. They supported Mr. Rajapaksa and a group of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) members against Sirimavo Bandarnaike,” he said.

Dr. Senaratne said in politics there were no eternal enemies and the UNP was today following the concept, ‘my enemy’s enemy is my friend’. (Lahiru Pothmulla)
