Public Relations Minister Mervyn Silva today said that Kelaniya meant Mervyn Silva, and Mervyn Silva meant Kelaniya.

Addressing a function in Kelaniya, the minister said though he remained silent in the recent past he had resumed his activities in the Kelaniya area.

“During the past few days I was watching the goings on. I left the doors open and some left through the doors while a large number of people entered through it. Now I can’t accommodate anymore. It’s houseful. Anyone wanting to come in now will have to stay outside,” he said.

Referring to a statement made by Minister Basil Rajapaksa that only the President had authority to remove him, Minister Silva said there was no need of a better credential than that.

“Minister Basil Rajapaksa is an old friend of mine from the days of Giruwapattuwa. I have worked for the permanent victory of President Rajapaksa at the Beliatta seat,” he said. (Lal S. Kumara, Kelaniya)
