Police probe over death

The police have begun investigations into the death of a suspect who was in police custody in Habarana, Police Spokesman SP Preshantha Jayakody told Daily Mirror online. The relatives of the suspect allege that the police were involved in his death.

The suspect was arrested by the police afterwhich he the police say he allegedly committed suicide. Two other inmates were also in the same cell when the suspect had killed himself, SP Jayakody said

A magisterial inquiry will also be held, SP Jayakody added. (GS)
