Pera Arts faculty students on token strike

The Students of the Arts Faculty of the Peradeniya University have launched a token strike, boycotting lectures and exams, Nuwana Chameera the President of the Arts Faculty Students Union said today. “The students are protesting for two demands. One is to reinstate the suspended studentship of the President of the AFSU and demanding the immediate release of three students who have been arrested by the Police,” he said.

The studentship of Nuwan Chameera the President of the AFSU was suspended until an inquiry due to complaints from two lecturers citing that Chameera had assaulted them. “It's been 24 days now since I was suspended but they are yet to call me for an inquiry”, he said. (Hafeel Farisz)
