One killed and 14 others injured in wasp attack

A 37 year old woman was killed and 14 others were injured when they came under a wasp attack while plucking tea in an estate in Maskeliya this morning
 
The wasp hive was set on a nearby tree and the wasps got stirred and attacked her and the rest who were plucking tea.
 
The incident was reported at around 10.45am in the Nallathanniya area in Maskeliya. The women were admitted to the Maskeliya and Glanken Hospitals by the residents of the area. 
 
Police spokesman Ajith Rohana said that the victim Weeraiyya Junmai was a resident of Marewatta area in Maskeliya. The Nallathanniya police are investigating the incident and the post mortem is to be carried out shortly. (Supun Dias)
