One killed 13 injured in an accident

A woman had been killed and thirteen others were injured after the van they were travelling in skidded off the road and crashed in to a tree at Divullewa in Galgamuwa on the Padeniya-Anuradapura Main Road last night, the Police said.

They said at the time of the accident there were seventeen persons onboard and the injured were admitted to the Galgamuwa Hospital.

The Police said the accident took place as a result of the driver of the van falling asleep at the wheel.

Eleven persons who were in critical condition had been transferred to the Anuradapura Hospital.
