Officers suspended over incident

Two police officers and a civil defense force personal have been suspended over the Inginiyagala incident while the Officer in Charge of the Inginiyagala police has also been transferred to Ampara, police spokesman SP Preshantha Jayakody told Daily Mirror online.

The suspension and transfer took place following a tense situation which arose in the area after a suspect who created a commotion in a temple escaped from police custody and was later found dead near a lakeside in the area the next day. (GS)
