Thushara Cooray, manager of the Under-15 cricket team from Sri Lanka which came back from Chennai on Monday told Express that the decision to return was taken by him and not because anybody in Tamil Nadu forced them to leave.

“We had no problem with the people of Tamil Nadu. Our interaction with the organizers of the tournament and the police was very friendly. But I took the decision to return because I did not want the boys, all under 15, to undergo mental stress because of the on-going political agitation there. The return was by way abundant precaution on my part,” Cooray said.
