Mihintale Chief Prelate removed

The Chief Prelate of the MIhintale Rajamaha Vijharaya Ven. Namalweva Rathnasara Thero has been suspended by the Malwathu Chapter with immediate effect. The Chief prelate has been accused of child molestation.

The Mahanayaka of the Malwathu Chapter Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sumangala Thero in a letter to the Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs has informed the Commissioner General about the decision taken by the council.

Ven.Walahahangunuwawe Dharmarathana Thero has been appointed as the Chief Prelate of the Rajamaha Viharaya.
