Man killed in hand grenade explosion

A 56-year old man was killed in a suspected hand grenade explosion in Thambuththegama, Anuradhapura a short while ago, police said.

He was said to be mentally retarded and engaged in collecting coconut shells and firewood.

The tragedy had occurred while he was burning coconut shells in his little hut.
